Ossipoff's Pre-Election Day Reminder

This, below, is my reply to a letter that the Union of Concerned Scientists sent to me, to urge me to vote tomorrow. So I sent this brief letter to them, as a reply. I realize that it repeats things that I’ve already recently said at Democracy Chronicles, but maybe it can be justified as a pre-election-day reminder. Here is my reply:

—

We’ve been voting for Democrats, and electing them about half the time, and what has been the result?

Expensive and murderous wars in Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan & Ukraine?

The richest 1%, and the richest .1% are taking, unearned, ever disproportionately more of the wealth and income – wealth deriving from the land’s (our land”s) natural resources, and from the population’s labor?

Unarmed, innocent black people being routinely murdered by police?

So vote for the Democrat in order to get more of that?

Obviously it makes no difference how we vote. Our vote-counting results are unverifiable. An election with unverifiable counting is an illegitimate election.

After each of George W. Bush’s “elections”, Harper’s Magazine described a mountain of evidence of widespread count-fraud. Unverifiable count results and instances of known count-fraud. That adds up to a lot of illegitimacy.

Bernie was spectacularly popular. Hillary and Donald are the most despised presidential candidates in the country’s history, and yet we’re told that Hillary beat Bernie in the primary?

There’s no reason to believe that Bernie didn’t win the primary, were the count honest.

So, how to vote? The best, appropriate and effective vote is to boycott the illegitimate elections and to demand verifiable vote-counting in big pro-democracy demonstrations all across the country.

Let all the foreign TV news show our empty boycotted polling-places, and the big pro-democracy demonstrations.
