After a fiery thirteen-hour filibuster, Sen. Rand Paul sets his sights on the White House. Katrine Dermody Before this week, Rand Paul was not necessarily in the shortlist of names that come up when people engage in sickeningly premature speculation about the next presidential race. Sen. Rand Paul (R) of Kentucky leaves the floor of the Senate after his filibuster of the nomination of John Brennan to be CIA director on Capitol Hill early Thursday. Later in the day, the full Senate voted, 63 to 34, to confirm Brennan. The chairman of the Republican Party on Thursday said that Sen. Rand Paul’s (R-KY) filibuster of CIA Director John Brennan was “completely awesome.” During a stop on his listening tour in Iowa, Reince Priebus was asked if Paul’s filibuster over President Barack Obama’s use of drones.
