Permitted demonstrators from the LaRouche Political Action Committee came equipped with a chorus singing “The Battle Cry of Freedom”, ending with the Star Spangled Banner, on Thursday in front of Federal Hall in New York City across from the infamous NY Stock Exchange handing out fliers and informing the public and numerous tourists about reinstating the Glass- Steagall Act of 1933.
The Glass-Steagall Act, also known as the Banking Act of 1933 (48 Stat. 162), was passed by Congress in 1933 and prohibits commercial banks from engaging in the investment business.
It was enacted as an emergency response to the failure of nearly 5,000 banks during the Great Depression. The act was originally part of President Franklin D. Roosevelt‘s New Deal program andbecame a permanent measure in 1945. It gave tighter regulation of national banks to the Federal Reserve System; prohibited bank sales of Securities; and created the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), which insures bank deposits with a pool of money appropriated from banks.
I interviewed one demonstrator dressed up as Queen Elizabeth who was calling for “reducing world population” and the “destructive activity of mankind on the planet”. Queen Elizabeth was there to vehemently oppose the reinstatement of the Glass Steagall Law and “break the power of Wall St”, as was the wish of the rest of the demonstrators.
“The banks have run up the biggest speculative bubble in world history and it’s collapse will ensure wiping out the vast majority of human kind on the planet”. Think she’s joking? This is no joke. This is what the “elites” have planned. Where will you find this information? Who is going to tell you this? FOX news? CNN?
“Queen Elizabeth” went on to tell me that the idea is to crush the resistance of the Greek people and their economy and to make an example of them. Perhaps Italy, Spain, Portugal, Russia, China, and the U.S will be next. “The U.S. is already subject”, said QE.
Daniel Burke spoke first at the podium set up directly in front of Federal Hall. Daniel Burke questioned Hillary Clinton last Monday when she spoke at the New School here in NYC, asking her if she is in favor of reinstating Glass Steagall of which she gave NO COMMENT. Daniel was escorted from the premises but not arrested.
“We can save the Nation with Glass Steagall immediately” said Daniel, “In the Senate, in the House”. “We have members of the U.S. Congress who are moving towards the utter bankruptcy of Wall St and Trans- Atlantic system generally.
“The entire system of Wall St and the European banks are Bankrupt”, said Daniel Burke. “There’s a solution, we must restore FDR’s full Glass Steagall legislation from 1933. “We’re going to initiate the most incredible recovery the world has ever seen through the principles of Alexander Hamilton and Franklin Roosevelt. A new U.S. presidency must now come into effect against the insanity of Obama, who must be removed absolutely as soon as possible. Senator Warren has led 3 of her colleges in the Senate to introduce Glass Steagall, as the entire European system is on the brink of collapse. Even the NY Times knows that the Euro doesn’t work. The IMF has admitted that the Greeks cannot pay, this system is finished”.
“Anyone who is not fighting to restore Glass Steagall is not qualified to be a Presidential Candidate”.
Christine of the LaRouche PAC spoke next and told the crowd, “There are 6500 banks in the U.S. of those only 29 have assets greater than $100 billion. Only 4 have assets more than $1 trillion. So, without Glass Steagall, when the Euro crashes and the Stock Market finally crashes you will hear a great Sucking sound! And you’ll discover that there’s nothing left of the banking system, because without the firewall of Glass Steagall that separates the commercial from the investment banks”.
