Republican Governor Ron DeSantis, To Illustrate The Story

Republican Governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis, last month, arrested 20 ex-felons for voting. Such MAGA republican antics to prevent citizens, particularly African Americans, from voting, while pandering to other citizens’ rage, are damaging to our democracy. They constitute schoolyard bullying that has caused enough harm already.

I’m at a loss for words when I see any citizen backing MAGA republican beliefs. Rational people would want to leave behind a legacy that gives hope to others when they depart their positions of authority. DeSantis and other MAGA republican cohorts, however, are instead sowing the seeds of division, while stomping on democratic rights.

America will do well without people of DeSantis’ political persuasion. This anti-democratic behavior by the Governor and other republicans is the product of the worst parts of Donald Trump’s MAGA movement. America can no longer afford such poor leadership. Citizens must vote massively in future elections to choose people willing to truly serve.

About Jack Jones

Jack Jones writes for Democracy Chronicles from Chicago’s south suburbs where he grew up. He is a union electrician Local 134, certified minister from Berean University, AYSO board member and coach, basketball coach, Cub Scout leader, husband, father and social participant. Jack considers himself a gourmet junk food chef, political writer, musician and likes to contribute to the world around him. A former deacon and chaplain at Cook County Jail in Chicago, he feels that our out-of-control corporate, religious and political environment is to blame for many of the problems in the world today. Jack believes we need to get money out of politics and that the church should take care of people instead of trying to get hypocrites elected to public office.
