Erica Snipes Garner's funeral
As the services concluded Michael Brown Sr., the father of Michael Brown, the teenager who was shot and killed by the police in Ferguson, Mo., in 2014, came on stage and embraced Esaw Garner, Eric Garner’s widow.

Rapper Common told the attendees that he took a cross-country flight just to be at the service. Others who attended the service included Comptroller Scott M. Stringer who was one of the speakers, Public Advocate Letitia A. James and Council Speaker Corey Johnson.

In a statement from former Democratic Party Presidential candidate Bernie Sanders, Sanders praised Erica Snipes Garner, whose father Eric died in a 2014 confrontation with a NYPD Officer Daniel Pantaleo. Al Sharpton during services read a part of Sander’s statement: “getting to know Erica was one of the great honors of my campaign. Erica never asked to be an activist, but responded to her own personal tragedy by becoming a fierce fighter for criminal justice reform and an end to police brutality.”

Outside the First Corinthian Baptist Church in Harlem last night a commotion was going on so that while inside the church during the services people could hear yelling from the vestibule of the Church.

One woman opened the door and and apologized for interrupting saying that some family was not being allowed to attend the services then, was quickly ushered out.

After the commotion inside the services Al Sharpton said it was “Erica Garners wishes” to have or not have certain people in attendance.
