China sending envoy to discuss Syria peace plan

China said Friday it is sending an envoy to Saudi Arabia, Egypt and France to explain its position on Syria, after Beijing called for an end to the year-long conflict in the Middle East country. China unveiled a six-point peace plan last Sunday, calling for an immediate end to the bloody violence

At least 19 civilians killed in Syria: monitors

At least 19 civilians were killed on Friday in violence across Syria as tens of thousands of demonstrators took to the streets after weekly Friday prayers, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said. The Britain-based group said at least 11 people were killed in the central province of Homs.
