Syrian Revolution Opponents Aleppo Destruction

by Thomas Manning

Opponents in the nearly three year long Syrian Civil war have finally met face to face in meetings which took place this past Saturday in Geneva Switzerland at the United Nation’s International headquarters. The topics of discussion in the meeting included the delivery of aid to the civilians who were caught up in the nearly three year long civil war along with a futile effort to come to an agreement with a peace agreement.

Syrian Revolution Opponents Peace Talks.jpgThe disagreements and accusations have come from both Syrian Revolution opponents have accused each other of war crimes, and the opponents of the regime being helped during this week’s talks as there were two reports released that support the opponents claims of torture and mass killings against the opponents of the regime.

According to the first report, that was released earlier this week, reportedly showed thousands of photographs smuggled out of Syria which claimed to show 11,000 bodies of detainees who were tortured and died in the prisons under the Assad regime. The second report, has showed that the Assad regime has raised to the ground seven districts in the cities of Damascus and Hama, areas in which opposition member were being targeted by the Assad regime by the use of bulldozers and explosives to destroy buildings and houses.

Throughout the first week of meetings, there have been reports of scuffles breaking out in the hallways of the United Nations and the hallways of the hotel between members who support the Assad regime and the opponents against the regime along with family members of people who have died during the revolution. In one confrontation, the government’s chief negotiator and his team were confronted in the lobby of their hotel by the mother of Abbas Khan, who died last month while in Syrian government custody.

“For god’s sake why did you kill my son?” Fatima Khan screamed as the government negotiating team walked out of their hotel. “He was a humanitarian worker, he wasn’t a fighter, don’t you have a heart”? Fatima said to the negotiating team as they walked out.
