To The American Oligarchs: Lay Off Us

No matter how many jobs are ruthlessly pulled out from under us, we are still going to do what it takes to put food on the table. The insensitive economic ploys of the rich don’t take into account the difficulties of our lives or what we have to go through to get by. Again, life and our recent history only proves to me that we the people must be part of the prescription as well as part of the solution, any other option will only end up as tragedy for the majority. When do you think capitalism will grow a heart? If big business cared about you and me, our nation wouldn’t be under threat in every sector.

Too many guns on the street, why? It’s about the money! Too many unjust wars, why? It’s about the money! No national Health Care, why? It’s about the money! No Student Loan Forgiveness, why? It’s about the money! Massive job layoffs from the oligarchs at big tech, why? It’s about the money! Huge rise and collapse of the stock market, why? It’s about the money! And a few tax breaks for corporate America that caused this problem, why? It’s about the money! No unions for Star Bucks workers, why it’s about the money! No sick days for real road workers, why it’s about the money! The terrible pace that construction workers are forced to work, why? It’s about the money! Our huge defense budget, why? It’s about the money! Privatization of municipal services, why? It’s about the money! The raising of interest rates, why? It’s about the money! High cost of education, why? It’s about the money! The high cost of health care, why? It’s about the money!

If you haven’t figured it out yet, the rich care about their money, not you and me. Their money also gets the same constitutional protection as you and I do, because of Citizens United and unrestricted money in politics! And because they have more money, they therefore get more control over the majority. It’s time to end this evil injustice and demand that this Oligarchy treat its citizens with the same protections afforded to the wealth of the Oligarchs. This is no longer the United States as it was. It’s been overrun by criminal and depraved interest groups, that you and I are not allowed to join, because we believe in democracy. It’s time to take or country, influence, standing, and way of life back before they end up killing us with theirs. It’s about the money! Lay off us.

About Jack Jones

Jack Jones writes for Democracy Chronicles from Chicago’s south suburbs where he grew up. He is a union electrician Local 134, certified minister from Berean University, AYSO board member and coach, basketball coach, Cub Scout leader, husband, father and social participant. Jack considers himself a gourmet junk food chef, political writer, musician and likes to contribute to the world around him. A former deacon and chaplain at Cook County Jail in Chicago, he feels that our out-of-control corporate, religious and political environment is to blame for many of the problems in the world today. Jack believes we need to get money out of politics and that the church should take care of people instead of trying to get hypocrites elected to public office.
