Democracy Chronicles

Why the Ruling-Rich Won’t Impeach Trump For Now

Ruling-Rich Won't Impeach Trump

On the reaction to my last Democracy Chronicles article, found here, I’d like to add that as far as impeachment goes we should remember there is a medical unfitness provision that could remove a president, but the problem is the same as with impeachment for high crimes and misdemeanors: The ruling-rich benefit from what he’s doing, and he’s doing it for them as well as for himself. He’s their president.

As long as he’s beneficial to the 1%, they won’t have him removed. He’s giving them an excuse to make things even more favorable to them than they’ve been for a long time (and worse for everyone else, of course).

People said that Trump couldn’t “win”. I argued that if the rulers want to do worse things, then installing someone like that would be their best move. Then they can (untruthfully) say, “Well, you elected that crazy.” Crazy like a fox, humongously increasing the disparity and inequality in income, wealth and standard of living that already distinguishes this country from the other industrial countries.

The only hope is that he might cause so much national and international disgrace and embarrassment that the rulers will decide that they have to have him impeached. Ordinarily I’d ignore the news but I now listen to Democracy Now, Project Censored and other news every day, to find out how bad things he’s about to do are. It seems to me we’ll have a little warning and know what to expect, and I have hope that he’ll disgrace the government so badly, and make so much international embarrassment, that the rulers/owners will tell the congress members to impeach him.
